After my first Jeepney Topload experience, the group is now set to trek to reach Batad Village, our home for the day. Dominic informed us beforehand that we need to trek which will consume 2-3 hours of our time. The jeepney before us insisted to go up and push through ended up with a broken engine (refer to the last part of this video to discover what I am trying to say).
Because of that unfortunate event, Dominic decided that the group must just start walking. It simply means that we will need to walk for around three hours. He didn’t want to risk our safety.
So we started walking and saw some travelers from other countries do the trek too. After thirty minutes, a big jeepney passed by. The temptation to block him and ask if we can hitch is very strong and I’m glad we did LOL. There were passengers inside, but there’s still enough space for us. Riding a jeepney to the main trekking point means minus one hour to reach our destination.
We tried our best to squeeze our bodies in the jeepney. The boys did the topload this time and man, the scenario is quite risky! One even fell from the jeepney and I bet they’re all holding the rails real tight in order to save their life. For us girls, we just laughed our fears off. Â Some started singing songs hoping we would reach the main trekking point alive.
So finally, we reached the main trekking point! Yey! Yey?
Are you guys ready to trek? Let’s start walking!
Once you see the Ifugao house, take it as a sign that you’re just three minutes away from Batad Village and just look at this breathtaking view. Welcome to Batad!
Finally, we reached the village of Batad! It wasn’t an easy trek given the fact that majority failed to sleep during the bus trip and the heat of the sun is almost unbearable. Seeing Batad Village in real-life is quite surreal. We went straight to Simon’s View Deck Inn, our home for the day and also ate our meals there. Later on, I’ll be sharing some pictures from our afternoon trek around the village. Time to embrace the simple life with no wifi and mobile phone signal!
surreal indeed! i wanna try this soon! 🙂
Go Mervz! Sulit na sulit ang trek kasi ang ganda ng Batad! 😀
I love it! The view was amazing and so the trekking … dying! I still remember it very well 😀
I’m glad that you joined us on this trip! Wait… where are the rest of the pictures? 😛
