One of the activities that is recommended to be done whenever you’re in Bangkok is the Rice Barge Afternoon Cruise. I skipped this part when I visited Bangkok way back in 2012 because I chose the temple hopping activity. When I saw this tour posted on the Pre-TBEX Asia page, I enlisted myself right away.
Chao Phraya River is dubbed as “The Venice of the East”. When taking this tour, guests are treated with a quick glimpse of a typical local life with an emcee imparting interesting facts about some of the places that the rice barge will pass through.
Here are some photos I managed to take while on board:
Before you know it, the emcee tells us we’re no longer in Bangkok!
By the middle of the tour, we were asked to transfer to a bigger barge, where homegrown tropical fruits are displayed and yes, BUFFET!
If you want to spend your afternoons in Bangkok without the need to walk, run or trek, this activity is for you! Not only do you get to access a scenic view comfortably – you’ll also feast on the tropical fruits that the country is proud of!
Have you ever tried the Rice Barge Afternoon Cruise in Bangkok? What’s your favorite tropical fruit grown in Southeast Asia?
very nice… I will include this on my activity when I plan for our Bangkok trip…
where do I reserve for this?
thanks
Thanks Phie! I’ll try to add the contact details here soon, but you can also visit the River City Cruises desk at the Rivr City Mall lobby 🙂
